Special notes: SOS will be doing Pollution Prevention outreach at busy beaches on July Fourth, consisting of distributing garage bags to groups of celebrators. Last year this proved to be a very effective method of reducing the amount of garbage left on the beaches on the morning of July Fifth. We need lots of volunteers to help with this! For extra fun you can also join us in the Aptos parade in the morning!

Pollution Prevention is Patriotic
July 4, 2009, noon - 4 p.m.
Hosted by: Save Our Shores
Special notes: Every year thousands flock to Santa Cruz County beaches to celebrate the Fourth of July and every year the impact to our beaches is HUGE! Thousands of pounds of fireworks and picnic litter are left on the beach, eventually making their way into the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Help SOS share the "Pollution Prevention is Patriotic" message at busy local beaches this Fourth of July. SOS staff and volunteers will set-up pollution prevention stations to remind beach goers to "Pack Their Trash" and hand out trash and recycling bags for free. We need your help! For more info contact Kate at volunteer@saveourshores.org or register today!
